Short biography
Smi is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science at the HCI Group of the University of Würzburg in cooperation with the Media Bias Research Group and multiple research stays at the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo. Their main interest concerns how the way information is shared impacts and influences recipients, with a focus on media bias and misinformation. Through visualisations, gamification, and interactive prototypes they create and evaluate possible mitigation strategies, including critically testing LLM capabilities. With a background in Interactive Media Design, they blend Human-Computer Interaction, UX, psychology, and computer science to support people in navigating the digital news landscape responsibly.
